According to the Principal Nursing Officer at the ward at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) where the student is on admission, Ms Agnes Frimpong, the victim was recovering, psychologically and physically, after her physiotherapy treatment.

She expressed optimism about the victim’s early recovery, as “she is responding to treatment”.

Ms Frimpong made this known to the Daily Graphic when the Ghana National Canoe Fishermen Council presented assorted items worth GH¢1,500 to aid the recovery of the victim.

Presenting the items, the Greater Accra Chairman of the council, Nii Djamlodja IV, said the council decided to present the items to the victim after they had heard of the incident.

He said the issue was a serious one that needed attention and called on the management of the UGMS to beef up security in and around the school to ensure the safety of both students and staff.

The council members  prayed for the victim and wished her speedy recovery to enable her to get back to school in order to fulfil her ambition.

Appreciation

Receiving the items, the student said she was humbled by the gesture that the council had demonstrated towards her.

She expressed appreciation to the council and all who had presented items to her, adding that great love that she did not expect had been shown to her.

Touching on her studies, she said arrangements had been made by the UGMS authorities to assist her catch up with her mates in her lectures.
