The Eastern Regional Minister-designate, Mrs Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey has embarked on a tour to visit traditional leaders in the Yilo and Manya Krobo areas, seeking their support and blessings ahead of her vetting.

On Friday, January 17, Awatey and her entourage first visited the Paramount Chief of Manya Krobo, Nene Sakitey II, where they were warmly received by enthusiastic residents.

During the visit, the paramount Chief of Manya Krobo, who is also the President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, Nene Sakitey II, assured the Minister-designate of the traditional council’s support.

“I am happy a daughter of our land has been chosen by his Excellency John Dramani Mahama to represent him in the Eastern Region. She has our support,” he said.

In her remarks, Mrs Awatey acknowledged the region's developmental challenges, which require urgent attention. She promised to serve with humility and dedication to address these issues, when she is confirmed.

“We face numerous challenges, from Kwahu Afram Plains North to Asuogyaman, New Juaben, Okere, and here in Krobo. Our roads are in poor condition, we lack access to water, our youth need employment, and our women must have opportunities in the marketplace. We are grateful to President John Dramani Mahama for his support and assurances, and we are committed to solving these challenges,” she said.

She also paid a visit to the Paramount Chief of Yilo Krobo, Oklepeme Nuer Annorbaa Sasraku II, who also expressed his full support for the Minister-designate, voicing confidence that she will become an exceptional female Regional Minister.
