A modern abattoir and three other tailor-made key projects in the Ofinso Municipal Assembly of the Ashanti Region have literally enhanced the image of the people and built a sudden feel-good attitude among them.

The abattoir, which is being funded under the Urban Development Grant (UDG), has a mechanised borehole, bio-gas digester, a kraal, a cold store and offices .It is  to end  the use of tyres and other unhygienic ways of preparing slaughtered animals for consumption thereby avoid contamination.

With three months left  to complete the project, the abattoir looks almost ready  for a big take off.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Baafuor Kese-Amankwaa, led the Daily Graphic team on a tour of the area as part of the paper’s regional agenda in assessing developmental projects across the 38 districts of the Ashanti Region .

Among the projects was a GH¢ 420,000 four- storey court  building made up of circuit court A and B, a magistrate court and a high court.

The building with offices for judges and other auxillary staff is to help speed up the adjudication of a back log of cases and to lessen the frequent travel to Kumasi for such exercises.

Also nearing  completion is a 1.7-kilometre road project and a four-kilometre street light project at the cost of GH¢ 430,000 being funded under the Urban Development Grant and the District Development Fund.

A visibly elated Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Kese-Amankwaa, told the Daily Graphic these were just a few of the many projects the municipal assembly was undertaking to better the lives of the people.
