MP manufactures road equipment
The New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikoi South Constituency, Mr Ahmed Arthur, has launched a bitumen sprayer and two compactors he has manufactured at Atico in Accra.
The machines are to be used in road rehabilitation in the constituency .

At the launch last wednesday, he said he manufactured the equipment purposely to address the challenges residents in Okaikoi South were facing with regard to roads in the constituency.
He said a major cost factor in road construction involved hiring of machines and thus his decision to manufacture the road equipment after he had conducted series of researches.
“I researched on how to develop a bitumen sprayer machine to purposely help fix the road problem we have in the constituency and to reduce cost of road works,” he said.
The invention was fully funded by the MP who said he was determined to train young people who were willing to learn how the machines were assembled.
He was quick to add that the government was rehabilitating some roads in the Okaikoi South Constituency, among which are the Industrial Area, Kaneshie, Mpamprom, First Light and Mallam Junction roads.

While giving a demonstration, he said, the machines employed the pre-mixing method which was next in grade to asphalt and would be used in sealing all roads that had potholes.
Mr Arthur stated his commitment to serve the constituency to the best of his ability and expressed the hope that other constituencies across the country would take up similar projects to address the challenges they were facing with regard to poor roads.

The Kaneshie Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Faakye Kumi, expressed the commitment of the police to assist in directing traffic on the roads when rehabilitation works begin since there would be road diversions and heavy traffic.
He said when work was completed, roads in the constituency would become more motorable and accessible and would also ease traffic on the main Kaneshie-Odorkor Highway.
“Bubuashie, for instance, has a lot of access roads within the community except that all the roads are bad thus when rehabilitation works are done, the major road will be free from traffic,” he said.
He commended the MP for the initiative to address the problem with roads in the constituency and called for support for the road rehabilitation project.
The Bubuashie Mantse, Nii Ashie Kumowuo and the Koteiman Mantse, together with other chiefs, also commended Mr Arthur for the initiative and urged all to support and help make the deplorable roads in the constituency motorable.
