Mrs Bawumia inaugurates Islamic Kindergarten in Nyakrom
Wife of the Vice-President, Mrs Samira Bawumia, has inaugurated a Kindergarten classroom block for the Agona Nyakrom Holy Q’uran Basic School in the Agona West Municipality in the Central Region.
The building replaces an old structure which the school had used for many years.
Mrs Bawumia inaugurated the building to mark ‘My First Day at School’ during which she also distributed reading books to five basic schools in the municipality to encourage reading among the schoolchildren.
The beneficiary schools are the Odom AME Zion School, Bosompa AMA School, Swedru Methodist A & B, Kwaman Catholic Basic and Nyakrom Holy Q’uran A and B.
KG education
Addressing the ceremony last Tuesday, Mrs Bawumia spoke about the importance of education at the basic level, saying pupils at that level needed all the support, encouragement and a conducive environment to prepare them for the next level of their educational ladder.
She encouraged teachers in the beneficiary schools to utilise the books donated to them to instil the reading culture in the pupils.
