NaBCo - Graduates yet to receive certificates can apply

All graduates who have completed their national service but do not have their certificates yet are eligible to apply for engagement by the Nation Builders Corps (NaBCo).

Contrary to claims making the rounds that graduates who do not have their certificates cannot apply to NaBCo, the Coordinator for the programme, Dr Anyars Ibrahim, has clarified that they could apply using their national service PINs.

“The PIN will help validate that they have completed school and gone through credible tertiary institutions,” he said.

The NaBCo is a government employment programme to provide job opportunities for 100,000 graduates in 2018.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic in Accra yesterday, Dr Ibrahim encouraged graduates to take advantage of the opportunity as a stepping stone to their desired employment.

He said he was encouraged by the numbers that had registered so far, adding that the module had future benefits for those who would apply but might not be selected.

For that reason, he said, the managers of the scheme would want to give every qualified person the opportunity to sign onto it by registering.

Expansion

Dr Ibrahim expressed optimism that the strides that would be made under the programme after its inception would make the government consider its expansion.

He explained that people who qualified but might not be selected due to the unavailability of space would be put on a waiting list and would become the initial choice for any expansion in the future.

He said those on the waiting list would also be the preferred choice in case of vacancies in terms of the 100,000 initial target.

He assured applicants that safeguards had been incorporated into the process to make it as fair and equitable as possible.

“These safeguards apply to every step of the process — from the online applications through to the training and placement,” he said.

Interview timelines The interviews are scheduled from Monday, June 18 to Friday, July 27, 2018.

Interviews for Revenue Ghana applicants are from June 18, to June 25, 2018; those for Digitise Ghana applicants are from June 26 to July 2, 2018, while from July 3 to July 6, interviews will be conducted for Feed Ghana applicants.

The other dates are: July 6 to July 10, 2018 — Civic Ghana; July 11 to July 16, 2018 — Enterprise Ghana; July 17 to July 21, 2018 — Educate Ghana, and July 23 to July 25, 2018 — Heal Ghana.

Dr Ibrahim said all the interviews would take place in the district capitals the applicants selected.

He underscored the need for applicants to familiarise themselves with the website www.nabco.gov.gh in order to receive updates and also go through the process successfully because all events and activities would be published on the platform.

Registration process

He said those who applied for the programme would have to go to the website to select an interview appointment time, date, as well as the modules under which they wished to serve.

“Applicants will have to go online from June 4 to June 15, 2018 to select their interview date and time based on the schedule,” he said.He said applicants had the
opportunity to select at most three modules under which they would be considered to increase their chances of being placed.

That would be followed by the interview, which would be jointly conducted by NaBCo and module implementing partners — mostly existing state institutions such as the Ghana Revenue Authority, the Ghana Health Service and the Lands Commission.

Dr Ibrahim explained that the involvement of the implementing partners was to help focus on the applicants’ suitability for their selected modules.

“Notification of selection, issuance of letters of engagement, placement and dates for orientation will be done through text messages,” he said.

He added that the validation and interview would take place on the same date at the district office when applicants showed up for interview.
