NGO launches project to support women with psychological challenges
The Makers Network Foundation (MNF), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has launched a project aimed at empowering women, especially those within the working class, to deal with challenges at the workplace that negatively impact on productivity.
The project dubbed: “The Women Island” targets women, especially widows and divorcees within the working class who may be enduring a lot of issues that affect their work output.
Under the project, the beneficiaries will be gathered for tutorials about life, peer experiences, socialisation and entertainment to help them ease pressure and clear their thoughts about their past negative experiences.
The project will provide facilitators who will assist such women to share thoughts, ideas and messages and equip them to do away with psychological trauma.
It is also expected to educate and build their negotiations and communications skills and knowledge to help them build their confidence in addressing issues affecting them.
Appeal
Addressing the media during the launch of the project in Sunyani, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the foundation, Ms Eunice Ntiwaa Yeboah, called on corporate organisations, institutions and benevolent individuals who had women at heart to support the foundation to improve the living conditions of women in the country.
She expressed worry about the poor treatment some women went through in society and called on all single mothers, unmarried women, divorcees and widows to come on board to fight for their rights.
“We believe that women can make it, it does not matter whether the fellow is a single lady, single mother, divorcee or a widow,” Ms Yeboah stated, adding that the MNF needed all of them on board, including those who had psychological problems due to marital challenges.
She said the foundation would also give women in the working class a special attention to empower themselves so that they could contribute their quota towards the advancement of the country.
Engagement
Ms Yeboah said the MNF would engage some renowned and experienced women and some victims of abuse to share and talk to beneficiaries of the project to help build their capacity to deal with such issues.
She expressed the hope that the project would attain its goals and make positive impact on the lives of beneficiaries.
