The nurses and midwives called off their strike on Friday afternoon.  The strike was necessitated by what they termed as unfair treatment meted out to them by the authorities of the hospital in the allocation of accommodation for staff.

The acting Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the TTH, Mr. Misbao Mohammed told Graphiconline that as part of the agreement reached, the management of the hospital is to implement a new accommodation policy which would start from March, this year.

Consequently, Mr Mohammed said a special committee for the allocation of accommodation for staff of the hospital would be set up to see to that and added that the allocation of accommodation would be done based on the rank and position of officers.

Mr Mohammed said as part of the agreement the leadership of the striking nurses and midwives of the hospital demanded a written form of the agreement reached at the meeting which a copy has been given to them.

This, he said was to hold management responsible if it failed to abide by the agreement reached.

When the Graphiconline reached the spokesperson for the striking nurses and midwives, Baba Musah he said they called off the strike the workers were pleased with the agreement reached.
