Odeefuo Buadu donates items worth $72,000 to Asikuma Odoben Brakwa health directorate
The Omanhene of the Breman Traditional Area, Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu VIII, has presented assorted medical items to the health directorate in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District in the Central Region.
The gesture was to support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the district which had currently not recorded a case.
The items, valued at $72,000, included needle mixed gauge, orthopedic surgery packs and supplies, cylinder trucks, Larry scope, oxygen tank regulator, stacking storage, pump anti-embolism, sharp containers, Endo tracheal tubes, surgical shavers, reflex hammer and nebulise supplies.

Others were pump enterial feeding, tempo medical, gowns surgical sterilise, anastasia circuit set, transformers, suction catheter and glove kits, chest tube and drainage unit, speculum non disposal and ABD sterile dressing.
The rest were skin specialities, espidral, spinal needle kit, disinfectant and skin cleansing, general surgery packs and supplies, hospital beds and tables.
Response to request
Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu explained that the gesture was in response to a request from the district health directorate to enable it to deal with the pandemic, if it reared up its head in the area.
He said it was important that health facilities in the district were well-resourced with the needed medical supplies to enable them to respond to the virus.
“There is no doubt that the government is challenged in providing the needed logistics to combat the pandemic, and the onus lies on all Ghanaians to support the government to tackle the crisis to bring life back to normal,” he said.
The Omanhene noted that health facilities in the district were not adequately resourced, and that the items would help the district to properly respond to suspected cases of COVID-19.

Leadership
He called on Ghanaians to emulate the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the fight against the pandemic at all levels in the society to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus which had caused havoc across the world.
“In our roles as chiefs, religious leaders, heads of institutions and community leaders, we need to be committed to our responsibilities towards ensuring that all Ghanaians are safe in the midst of the pandemic,” he said.

The Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District Director of Health, Mr Samuel Kwabena Ofosu, expressed gratitude to Odeefuo Buadu and the Breman Traditional Council for the continuous support to healthcare delivery in the district.
