Omane Boamah to step down as NDC Elections Director ahead of Defence Minister role

Defense Minister-designate Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah today announced his imminent departure from his role as NDC Director of Elections and IT, addressing concerns about potential conflicts of interest.

Addressing questions during his vetting on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Dr Omane Boamah confirmed that plans are underway to appoint his successor. 

"We've been discussing amongst ourselves, and we know who we'll be proposing to the Financial Executive Committee to take over from me," he told the Appointments Committee.

The announcement came after committee members questioned whether his political role might affect his ability to serve impartially as Defense Minister.

"No Ghanaian should have any fear about my impartiality," Dr. Boamah assured the committee.
