OSP releases Baba Jamal on self-recognisance bail after interrogation

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has released the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso East, Baba Jamal, on self-recognisance bail after several hours of interrogation.

His lawyer, Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu, who confirmed the development to the Graphic Online, said his client was questioned over alleged vote-buying linked to the party’s parliamentary primary held on Saturday, February 7.

He explained that Mr Jamal was also interrogated over an alleged assault on an officer of the OSP who was dispatched to serve an invitation letter on the parliamentary candidate.

Counsel maintained that his client had no knowledge of items allegedly being distributed in his name.

He added, “If he was aware and being a lawyer, he would have told the people the position of the law”.
