The oxygen concentrator is capable of generating 95 per cent pure oxygen at 10 litres per minute (LPM).
It is meant to help improve healthcare delivery, especially at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

Other items presented were 10 adult cannulas, 10 paediatric cannulas, 10 full kit nebuliser sets and five humidifiers.
According to the company, the donation formed part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) to the Police Hospital.

Cost of oxygen

The Medical Director of the hospital, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Dr Seidu Mohammadu Zakariah, received the items on behalf of the facility.

He expressed delight at the presentation, indicating that the items would go a long way to help operations at the hospital.
“As a health facility, we spend more than GH¢10,000 on procuring oxygen for patients every month and this is affecting the centre dearly,” he said.

He said the donation would, therefore, go a long way to reduce the financial burden on the facility.
DCOP Dr Zakariah thanked the management of Rikair and called on corporate institutions and other bodies to emulate the gesture.

Partnering health centres

Presenting the items, the Managing Director of Rikair, Nana Yaw Asante, said the firm was prepared to partner health institutions to deliver quality health care to the public.

He promised the Police Hospital that a team of technicians would be deployed to train technicians on the use of the equipment as soon as possible.

He added that the concentrator could produce and supply 24-hour oxygen to two patients at the same time.
Recently, the company donated similar equipment to the Ministry of Health to be supplied to health institutions.
