President Mahama holds talks with Emir of Qatar

President John Mahama on Sunday held talks with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, at the Emiri Diwan Palace in Doha.

The meeting, which was held behind closed doors, is believed to have centred on Ghana-Qatar relations and the President's quest for major investments in Ghana's power sector in furtherance of his vision to develop Ghana into a power hub in West Africa. 

President Mahama was accompanied by Senior Adviser Alhaji Issifu Baba Kamara; Minister for Water Resources, Works & Housing Alhaji Collins Dauda; and the Chairman of Parliament's Committee on Energy Dr. Kwabena Donkor, who is also Minister designate for Power. 

Before the closed door meeting, President Mahama inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by the Royal Guards after the two leaders took the national salute. 

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani also hosted President Mahama and his delegation to a Royal Lunch as part of the three-day state visit by the President.
