The high-level dinner at the residence of the Ambassador in Accra was graced by President John Dramani Mahama and his wife Lordina, as well as former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

Also in attendance were the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ms Hanna Tetteh, Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Minister of Education, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang and the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs Dzifa Abla Gomashie.

The over 100 dignitaries from Ghanaian political, economic, academic and cultural endeavours enjoyed the five-course menu prepared by French chef Nicolas Nguyen Van Hai from the famous restaurant ‘Le Chapon Fin’ in Bordeaux who flew to Accra especially for the occasion.

Chef Van Hai said Good France, also known as French Gastronomy, represented a multitude of know-how (savoir-faire) and cultural heritages of different French regions.

Mrs Delphine Adenot-Owusu, the Press Attaché of the French Embassy, told the Daily Graphic that the event came after visits of the Bordeaux delegation to Accra in February this year, to explore cooperation with Ghana.

She said that was at the invitation of President Mahama during his previous bilateral visit to France last year.

The press attaché said 10 other restaurants from four cities in Ghana also served French dinner simultaneously to celebrate the worldwide event of Good France.

The participating restaurants in Ghana were Bistro 22, Chapter One (Villa Monticello), Le Tandem, Papillon (Kempinski), Sankofa (Movenpick) and The Orangery, all in Accra.

The rest are Euphoria (Protea Hotels) and the Pub from Takoradi and the Royal Senchi Hotel from Akosombo and the View from Kumasi.

More than 1,500 chefs from 150 embassies in 150 countries and five continents  offered dinners to celebrate the French Gastronomy, listed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage.
