Protesting Sogakope youth block Lower Volta bridge again over murder of assembly member
Some youth in Sogakope in the Volta Region for the second time blocked the main bridge over the Lower Volta Lake that links the town to Tefle as a protest over the killing of the Assembly Member for Sogakope South, Marcus Mawutor Adzahli, by unknown assailants on Sunday.
The youth argued that the police failed to respond to a distress call from the deceased during the attack hence his murder.
They said the murder scene was just about five minutes away by vehicle and yet the police did not respond promptly.

They, therefore, blocked the road for some hours and set used vehicle tyres ablaze.
On his part, the District Chief Executive of South Tongu, Emmanuel Agama has expressed worry about the alarming rate of crime in the area saying a similar incident in the area three weeks ago also came with a complaint that the police delayed in responding to the incident.
The Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa has since visited the area to appeal to the youth to remain calm whilst the security agencies intensify security in the area.
