The storm lasted 45 minutes but left in its wake severe damage running into thousands of Ghana cedis.

Damage

Officials are still assessing the extent of damage caused by the downpour, but early indications are that some people have been displaced.

The Fongo E/A Primary School in Wa had part of its old structure damaged when a section of a new school structure under construction collapsed on it.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr Mohammed A.Illyasu, said the damage required urgent attention, as basic schools had  reopened for the  third term of the 2015/16 academic year.

The school, whose population of 560 cannot be accommodated by the original structures, is currently being expanded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).
