That, he explained, would help sustain the peace in the country.

Worthy Bro. Wireko was speaking at a thanksgiving service during the inauguration of new executive members of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, a Catholic friendly and charitable society.

Respected Lady Sister Afua Amoa Duah was sworn-in as the leader of the Ladies of Marshall, the female wing of the society.

At a well-attended Mass, Worthy Bro. Wireko also presented two cheques totalling GH¢2,000 to support the 60th anniversary of the Holy Spirit Cathedral.

Worthy Bro. Wireko reminded Ghanaians that they were one people with a common destiny, hence the need to stay united to overcome the development challenges confronting the nation.

Maredes

He said the society had set up the Marshallans Relief Development Service (MAREDES), a non-governmental organisation to provide support to the needy.

He said the society intended to provide potable water to the Akropong School for the Blind in September 2014 and, therefore, used the opportunity to call on corporate bodies and individuals to contribute to a worthy cause.

Homily

Preaching the Homily, Very Rev. Fr John Louis called on Christians to live according to God’s word.

According to him, although Christians read God’s word from the Bible and also listen to it in church, the attraction to worldly materials makes it difficult for them to live by the word of God.

He added that Christians should make it a daily habit to practise the word of God.

He explained that the grace of God would abound in the lives of Christians who shunned wordly pleasures for God’s love.

Appreciation

The President of the Holy Spirit Cathedral Parish, Mrs Mary Anane-Mensah, who received the cheque on behalf of the church, lauded the support of the society to the activities of the church.
