According to them, logistics played a vital role in enabling the police to carry out their constitutional mandate of maintaining law and order.

They also commended the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Mohammed Alhassan, for introducing visibility policing in the various communities.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACOP), Mr Victor Tandoh (retd), speaking at the annual general meeting (AGM) of the association in Accra, said the IGP had introduced strategic plans to ensure the safety of the citizens and this was laudable.

He stated that the AGM would offer members of NARPO the opportunity to discuss issues concerning their welfare and would also feature the election of its new executive.

According Mr Tandoh, the meeting would also offer an opportunity for the retired police officers to discuss certain modalities that would enable them to liaise effectively with the police administration.

“Though we are retired, we are still committed to ensuring law and order in the country. To this extent, this forum will create a dialogue between the police and NARPRO to ensure order in the society,” he added.

Welfare of members

Touching on the welfare of members, Mr Tandoh emphasised that NARPO was committed to improving the lives of retired police officers.

He indicated that the association had a welfare scheme designed to suit the needs of its members and, therefore, encouraged all retired police officers to join the association to enable them to access certain facilities established by NARPO.

Mr Tandoh, on behalf of NARPO, expressed his appreciation to Mr C. K Dewornu, a member of the Police Council and Council of State, Mr. William Aboah, former Minister of Interior and the Commissioner of Police (COP) Kwesi Nkansah (retd) for their tireless efforts towards the advancement of NARPO.

He expressed the association’s appreciation to the IGP for the support of the Police administration.
