Robbers kill passenger on Wa-Nadowli road
One person was shot dead and two others sustained injuries when three suspected robbers attacked a Yutong bus, with registration number GN 2536-10, on the Wa-Nadowli highway in the early hours of Friday, June 24, 2016.
The robbers, riding unregistered motorbikes, chased the bus which was travelling to Kumasi from Hamile, a town close to the Ghana-Burkina Faso border, and shot at it, causing the bus to stop abruptly.
The robbers, who wore masks, were said to have robbed the passengers of all their money and mobile phones.
Investigations
Briefing the Daily Graphic at Wa, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dr Sayibu Gariba, the Deputy Upper West Regional Police Commander, said the body of the passenger yet to be identified had been deposited at the Wa Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy, while the two injured persons had been treated and discharged.
The identities of the deceased and two injured persons were yet to be released by the police at the time of filing this report.
Two arrested
Meanwhile, two suspects have been arrested to assist the police in their investigations.
