The suspect, Bismark Donkoh, allegedly drove his taxi, with registration number GC3353-12, over his son, who had crawled under the taxi.

Donkoh, in the morning of Sunday, August 3, 2014, was washing his taxi close to his residence at Gomoa Asebu, near Winneba Junction.

According to information gathered by the Daily Graphic, unfortunately, he did not know that his son had crawled to the place and was lying under his car.

After he had finished washing the car, he decided to reverse and park it at a proper place, but accidentally drove over his son, killing him instantly.

The Winneba Municipal Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr John Paul Akonde, told the Daily Graphic that it was some passers-by who notified the suspect of the incident, after which he immediately came out of his car to verify.

He said the police were quickly called to the scene and they effected the arrest of the suspect to assist in investigations.

Mr Akonde added that the suspect had since been granted bail to assist the police in further investigations.

The body of the child has been deposited at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital morgue for autopsy.
