Trader in grip of police for parading as a doctor at Korle Bu
A trader who has been parading himself as a medical doctor at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) in Accra is in the grip of the Dansoman Police.

The suspect, Jacob Nii Laryea, who also responds to other names, including David Nii Okai, was arrested on the hospital premises with a stethoscope around his neck.
Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Dansoman Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr Antwi K.Tabi, said two doctors of the KBTH spotted Laryea in a white coat, with a stethoscope around his neck on August 12, 2016.
Suspicion
Upon suspicion, the police said the doctors decided to monitor the movement of Laryea closely, as he walked around and interacted with patients, pretending to be a doctor.
Unknown to Laryea that he was being monitored, he showed up at the surgical and emergency ward of the hospital the next day where he interacted with some of the patients on admission.
On August 17, 2016, the two doctors, whose identities were not disclosed by the police, spotted Laryea at the same ward doing his usual rounds.
The doctors were said to have approached Laryea and questioned him to ascertain if he was actually a doctor and an employee of the hospital.
According to Mr Tabi, the doctors later found out that Laryea could not respond to basic questions on Medicine posed to him.

Additionally, he said Laryea, who insisted he was a medical doctor, could not produce his identification card to authenticate his claims. He also failed to indicate which department of the hospital he worked.
Arrest
Mr Tabi said while Laryea was being questioned, he took to his heels, but was arrested after a hot chase.
Laryea was later handed over to the Korle Bu Police Station for further investigations.
At the station, Mr Tabi said, Laryea admitted during interrogation that he was not a doctor but a trader.
