Trustees last Saturday cemented their status as the undisputed champions of the men’s competition in the Greater Accra Hockey League after they thrashed Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) 5-1 in the final to claim the BEIGE Knockout trophy, their third piece of silverware this season.

Trustees added the BEIGE KO trophy to an already burgeoning trophy cabinet, which holds the uniBank Masters, Bajfreight Gala and Dwadifo Adanfo League trophies.

Trustees dedicated their latest triumph to a member of their team, Salya Nsalbini, who buried his brother, Abednego Nsalbini, a hockey player for Ark Boys a few hours before his team took to the Theodosiah Okoh Hockey pitch against GRA.

In the first half, Trustees were ruthless from their penalty corners, racing into a three-goal lead in the space of 15 minutes courtesy a brace from Ernest Opoku in the sixth minute and 15th  minute while Ofosu Asamoah struck in between those strikes in the 11th minute.

GRA scored their only goal of the encounter in the 27th minute when Ebenezer Arthur dribbled through the stubborn Trustees defence before unleashing a low stroke past goalie Robert Aryeetey to make the score 3-1.

Trustees scored twice again after the recess through field goals by Francis Tettey and Samuel Afari in the 54th and 65th minutes respectively.

In the ladies final, Police beat GRA 2-1 with Martha Sarfoa and Faustina Aggrey scoring for Police after Elizabeth Opoku had given GRA a shock lead while Sapholda thumped Multistix 4-1 to claim the senior’s crown.

In the junior’s final, Real Ambassadors survived a late scare to see-off Young Financiers with a 2-1 victory secured courtesy goals by Nicolas Nyarko and Ebenezer Nyarko while Bernard Woneku pulled a goal back for Financiers.

The chairman of the Greater Accra Hockey Association (GAHA), George Haizel praised all the teams who participated in the BEIGE KO for maintaining their high levels of discipline during the competition while Anne-Marie Blackmore, a representative of  BEIGE Capital indicated her outfits readiness to renew their contract with GAHA.
