The items included one digital X-ray machine set, 6 hospital beds and mattresses, two portable ventilators, portable Ultra Sound Machine with Doppler capability, four infusion pumps, four patients’ bedside monitors, four UPS systems, one stock ambulance with full Emergency Response Kit and two Electric Washing Machines and dryer.

Mr. Charles Darku, General Manager of Tullow Ghana Limited, said the donation followed negotiation between the two entities when the former approached them to utilize their property for the creation of on-shore facilities to support its off-shore operational activities.

He said the availability of a medical facility was one of the key requirements both parties discussed, adding, “This is in recognition of the high risk nature of the operations involved in the oil and gas industry”.

Colonel Mahama Alhassan, Director of Medical Services of the Ghana Air Force, said upgrading of military hospitals had become imperative, since they no longer served only men and women of the Forces, but civilians as well.

He added that the donation would enhance the quality of service delivered at the medical centre, adding, “Health, as an essential aspect of our lives, is one thing we strive to improve”.

Air Commodore Maxwell Nagai, the Commander of the Takoradi Air Force Base, said the medical equipment had come at the right time to cater for emergencies.
