They are Mr Ernest Kobla, the Production Manager, and Mr Abraham Kofoya-Tetteh, the outgoing Eastern Regional Editor of the Daily Graphic.

In Koforidua, three suspected armed robbers last Friday raided the Koforidua Adweso SSNIT Flat residence of Mr Kofoya-Tetteh and took away a number of items and GH¢650.

The items comprised two HP laptops, three Nokia mobile phones, a Bamboo Tablet and a Samsung mobile phone valued at GH¢6,500 belonging to the victim and his three daughters.

One of the daughters, Ms Adwo Tettekwoh, a final-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), who was the first to come into contact with the robbers, was hit on the head with a piece of wood.

After the robbery, she was rushed to the Koforidua Regional Hospital where she was treated and discharged.

Two girls spared

Mr Kofoya-Tetteh’s two other daughters, a graduate of the KNUST and a final-year student of the Krobo Girls’ SHS, were, however, not touched by the robbers, who rather comforted them.

One of the robbers assisted the daughters to hide some of their electronic appliances from the one armed with the pistol.

While one of the robbers pointed a pistol at Kofoya-Tetteh and forced him to bring out the money he had on him, another, with a piece of wood in his hand, collected the items in the sitting room and the other bedroom where two of the girls were sleeping.

The third robber stood guard at the entrance of the house.

According to Kofoya-Tetteh, at exactly 1 a.m. last Friday, he heard a big bang on the door and when he woke up to find out what was happening, one of the robbers who had entered the sitting room pointed a pistol at him and ordered him to bring out the money on him.

Robber spares victim

He said the robber with the pistol told him that they had been instructed to kill him but they would not do so on humanitarian grounds but only needed the money and the items.

In a related development, Mr Kobla was also attacked by an unknown armed man at his residence in Tema last Friday.

According to him, when he got home on that day from work, as usual he stopped his car in front of the gate to his house and got down to open the gate to enable him to park the car inside.

Mr Kobla said immediately he got down from his car, he was accosted by a tall armed man who ordered him to kneel down.

He said when he made the attempt to kneel down, he realised that the man was holding a metallic object with a sharpened edge and that prompted him to refrain from kneeling and instead shout to draw neighbours’ attention.

“When I began to shout for help, he took my wallet containing an unspecified amount of money, my driver’s licence and other ID cards and absconded,” he added.

Mr Kobla said he was stabbed close to his shoulder and bled but did not realise it until he was prompted by some neighbours who had rushed to the scene.

According to him, he was rushed to the Port Clinic where the deep cut on his shoulder was sutured.

“When I returned from the clinic, I realised that the car tape in my daughter’s car which had also been parked in front of the house by a mechanic had also been removed,” he added.

He said he later reported the case to the Community 12 Police, who are currently investigating the incident.
