The items are batik tie-dye, detergents, toiletries and non-alcoholic beverages.

The presentation became necessary after the two organisations committed themselves to training the female inmates on entrepreneurial skills for three days.

The President of the Ebenezer Whyte Foundation, Mr Ebenezer Whyte Opoku, who was jointly supported by Sylvestina Bioh of Women’s Pride Foundation to present the items, said the two organisations had begun a five-month project dubbed: “Storing Hope for the Hopeless.”

Restoration of hope

He said it was the priority of the organisations to restore hope to the hopeless, such as prisoners not only in the Ashanti Region but in the entire country.

He expressed the hope that the training would go a long way to impact positively on the lives of the prisoners, especially, when they had finished serving their jail sentences.

He asked the trainees to take the training seriously to enable them to practise what they had learnt after serving their jail terms.

An aspiring Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo Ano North on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Suleman Adamu Sanid, who was also present, pledged his support for the project and said as agents of development, the two organisations should be applauded for their efforts, and called on the inmates to take the initiative seriously.

The officer in charge of the female section of the Kumasi Central Prisons, Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP) Gladys Adu, expressed gratitude to the organisations for the training programme and the presentation.
