Ghana Upstream Petroleum Chamber supports Effia Nkwanta Hospital
The Medical Director at the Western Regional Referral Hospital, Dr. Joseph Kojo Tambil, has commended the Ghana Upstream Petroleum Chamber for donating need-specific items to the hospital.
He said the uniqueness of the items donated were different from the usual Veronica buckets and stands which were also needed though, insisting however that the need for specified personal protective equipment (PPE) to support the operations of the hospital staff was paramount.

Speaking after receiving the consignment of PPE to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi to help protect frontline workers, Dr. Tambil said “Before the Ghana Upstream Petroleum Chamber donated, they called the hospital to know which PPEs are critical for our operation.”
“As a team, doctors, nurses and other medical personnel on the frontline in the fight against the Coronavirus (Covid-19) need to be well equipped with appropriate PPE which has suddenly become the hottest and scarce global commodity” he said.
High demand On behalf of the hospital and team, he thanked the Chamber for the initiative and expressed the hospital’s determination to provide the best possible protective care for health workers who are taking daily risks caring for others. “PPE has become essential for frontline healthcare workers all over the world and is in short supply in many parts of the world given the high demand for it.”
The items will go a long way to protect Ghanaian frontline healthcare workers who are doing all in their power to provide support and treatment to COVID Patients, he stressed.
Presenting the items, the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber, Mr David Ampofo said “COVID19 has really turned every aspect of life on its head and requires the collaborative effort of all stakeholders to successfully reduce the incidence of the disease.”
