Kempinski Hotel wraps up month-long breast cancer awareness campaign

Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra has concluded its month-long Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a series of impactful initiatives aimed at raising awareness and promoting early detection in Ghana.

Led by the hotel’s BE Health corporate social responsibility program, the campaign, themed “Early Detection Saves Lives,” included guest donation drives, health screenings, educational seminars, and community-focused events.

A major highlight of the campaign was the ‘Walk for the Cure,’ held in Ejisu in partnership with Breast Care International (BCI) Ghana. The event, which took place in the Ashanti Region under the theme “Together We Can Change the Narrative about Cancers in Africa,” drew thousands of participants, including healthcare professionals, students, cancer survivors, and community leaders. The walk served as a powerful platform for breast cancer advocacy, raising both awareness and support for cancer initiatives in Ghana.

“Our BE Health initiative has made a meaningful impact by providing essential resources and support to medical practitioners and individuals facing breast cancer, making a real difference in their lives,” said Hanno Barkhoff, General Manager of Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra. “Corporate Social Responsibility is at the core of our values, and through BE Health, we are proud to support Breast Care International. Together, we can pave the way for a healthier future for all.”

Kempinski also hosted BCI’s fundraising event and supported the sod-cutting ceremony for the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Comprehensive Cancer Centre of Excellence, underscoring the hotel’s commitment to supporting local cancer treatment efforts.

The BCI President, Dr. Beatrice Addai Wiafe, expressed her appreciation for Kempinski’s support, stating that the hotel’s partnership plays a crucial role in advancing cancer awareness and treatment efforts in Ghana.

Looking ahead, Kempinski has pledged to fund oncology training for healthcare professionals and provide financial support for breast cancer patients. Hotel guests can contribute by donating GHS 15 (1 Euro) per night’s stay or purchasing the ‘BE Health Elixir’ mocktail and BE Health Salad, with proceeds directed toward breast cancer support.
