GCB Bank holds breast cancer awareness seminar
In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, GCB Bank hosted a breast cancer awareness seminar for its staff, both in-person at the lobby of its Head Office and virtually via Microsoft Teams.
The event, which aligned with this year’s theme, “No one Should Face Breast Cancer Alone,” aimed to raise awareness, encourage early detection and promote solidarity in the fight against breast cancer.

The seminar was led by a medical doctor from the Synel Hospital, Dr Theophilus Thompson, who provided an informative session on the symptoms of breast cancer; he also demonstrated how to perform self-examinations.
His insights emphasised the importance of knowing the signs and taking proactive steps in personal health care.
The Head of the Human Resource Department, Nana Kwabena Yeboah, who facilitated the seminar, underscored GCB Bank’s commitment to employee well-being.
In his remarks, GCB Bank’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Humphrey Narh, urged staff to take self-examinations seriously, stressing that early detection was key to effectively combating the disease.
The Managing Director of GCB Bank, Kofi Adomakoh, who was also present to offer support, reinforced the bank’s dedication to fostering a culture of health and awareness within the organisation.
Staff who attended both in person and virtually had the opportunity to ask questions and gain further clarity on breast cancer prevention and self-care practices.

The session concluded with breast screening conducted by medical practitioners, providing staff with an opportunity for early detection.
As part of the initiative, and in response to a communiqué from HR, all staff added a touch of pink to their outfits, symbolising their support for the month-long awareness campaign and honouring those affected by breast cancer.
The event highlighted GCB Bank’s dedication to health and wellness, ensuring that no one within its community faced breast cancer alone.
