The facility, which will accommodate two staff members of the school, cost GH¢132,037 and was funded from the District Development Fund (DDF).

Accommodation for both staff and students still remain the major challenge confronting the school which currently operates from the old and dilapidated structures that housed the former leprosarium hospital at Kokofu.

Inaugurating the new quarters, the Bekwai Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Madam Mary Juantoah, said the issue of health was paramount and should be given the needed support by all. She pledged the assembly’s support to help improve upon infrastructure in the school.

The MCE said work on a new information and communication centre and a demonstration room estimated to cost GH¢87,000 would begin soon to enhance teaching and learning in the school.

She said the assembly had earlier constructed a borehole for the school to ease their water problems.

The Principal of the Nurses Training School, Miss Hagar Agyir-Binn, commended the assembly for its support.

She said as a result of the inadequate facilities, practical demonstrations were carried out on the lawns and students stood for hours for those lessons.

In addition, their attention during the demonstrations is often attracted by vehicular movement, insect bites and activities of those passing by.

That, Miss Agyir-Benin stated, was affecting effective teaching and learning in the school and appealed to the government through the GETFund to provide the school with hostels, classrooms, a dining hall and staff accommodation.

She commended the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), for donating 20 computers and accessories to the school.
