World Cancer Day: Kempinski visits Peace and Love Hospital to encourage patients
Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra has marked World Cancer Day with a visit to breast cancer patients and survivors at the Peace and Love Hospital, as part of its health advocacy and community support efforts.
The visit, held in Accra on February 10, 2025, formed part of activities to commemorate World Cancer Day, which was observed globally under the theme “United by Unique”. According to the hotel, the outreach was aimed at providing emotional support and encouragement to patients undergoing treatment, while reinforcing the importance of compassion alongside clinical care.
Members of the Kempinski team spent time interacting with patients through games, conversations and shared experiences, creating what the hotel described as a relaxed and supportive environment. The visit also included a shared lunch, giving patients and caregivers an opportunity to engage informally with the visiting team.
The engagement was further highlighted by the presence of Akua’s Mama Zimbi, an award-winning actress and television and radio personality, who shared personal reflections with patients. She encouraged them to remain hopeful, reminding them that a breast cancer diagnosis “is not a guarantee of death, but a journey that can be faced with hope and strength”.
DCOP Kofi Boakye also participated in the visit, leading a song ministration that offered moments of comfort to patients, followed by words of encouragement directed at both patients and caregivers.
The initiative was organised under Kempinski Accra’s BE Health Corporate Social Responsibility programme, which focuses on health advocacy, education and patient support. Through the initiative, the hotel has maintained a long-standing partnership with Breast Care International, supporting efforts aimed at early detection, treatment and sustained care for people affected by breast cancer in Ghana.
Commenting on the outreach, the General Manager of Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra, Ms Silvia Rajniak, reaffirmed the hotel’s commitment to health-related causes. “Through BE Health and our continued partnership with Breast Care International, we remain committed to standing with patients, raising awareness, and offering support where it matters most,” she said.
Ms Rajniak added that World Cancer Day served as a reminder of shared responsibility and empathy in addressing the disease. “On World Cancer Day, we are reminded that while every cancer journey is unique, compassion and solidarity unite us all and together we can fight cancer.”
Kempinski Accra said the visit reflects its broader commitment to community wellbeing and the use of its platform to support causes that have a direct impact on lives, particularly in the area of health education and patient care.
