Akatsi Chiefs hail NPP's Free SHS Policy as a game-changer for education
The Chiefs of Akatsi North in the Volta Region have praised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the transformative impact of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy on education in Ghana.

Welcoming Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to Ave Havi in the Akatsi North Constituency on Tuesday, the Chiefs highlighted the importance of the policy, describing it as a "revolutionary step" in providing free secondary education to millions of Ghanaian children.
In an address delivered on behalf of the traditional rulers, Torgbui Adogo Agbalek commended the NPP government for a number of social intervention programmes, singling out the Free SHS policy for its profound effect on education.
"The Free SHS policy has revolutionised education by providing millions of Ghanaian children with access to secondary education for free," the Chiefs said.
They also expressed gratitude for various development projects initiated under the NPP government, specifically citing improvements at Ave Senior High School, including the construction of dormitory and classroom blocks, as well as the provision of a school bus.
Additionally, the Chiefs acknowledged the construction of District Assembly offices, a Magistrate court and bungalows, kindergarten blocks, and the ongoing Agenda 111 district hospital project. Road rehabilitation through the provision of DRIP equipment was also highlighted.
The Chiefs further honoured Dr. Bawumia for his leadership as Vice President, noting his efforts to improve governance and efficiency in public services.
"We acknowledge his dedication to public service and his unwavering commitment to the country's progress," they said, commending his role in driving economic growth and enhancing the well-being of Ghanaians.
In a symbolic gesture of support, the traditional rulers adorned Dr. Bawumia with green leaves, expressing their confidence in his presidential bid and their anticipation of his swearing-in as the next President of Ghana in 2025.
