Mr Hafix Bin Salih

‘Allow rule of law to prevail’

Upper West Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Mr Hafix Bin Salih, has called on party members and supporters to allow the rule of law to prevail to bring out the culprits and to unravel the circumstances behind the assassination of the Upper East regional chairman of the party.

Adams Mahama died recently after sustaining very serious burns when unknown assailants poured acid on him.

Mr Bin Salih, who doubles as the first vice chairman of the party in the region, described the incident as "an unfortunate and despicable act which must be investigated thoroughly" to bring the perpetrators to book.

"Nobody should be shielded, but we need a thorough investigation to unravel those behind the act and the reason behind it," he told Daily Graphic in an interview.

I'm scared

Asked if he was scared by the news, he replied: "Yes, I'm scared. It seems politicians are endangered species. No politician seems safe".

Opinion following Adam Mahama's death seemed to point to the intra-party confusion.

But Mr Bin Salih said those comments were hasty.

"The police would have to investigate and find the culprits. Sometimes, the real culprits are not pursued because of public opinion about the possible culprits," he said.

He urged party faithful to remain calm and use the party's internal mechanism to resolve differences.
