The carnival began from the Chorkor "T" Gardens to Mamprobi, with Dr Vanderpuiye in an open top vehicle clad in a white attire.

Leading his vehicle were motor riders, brass band and ‘kpalongo’ dancers amid firing of musketry.

His entourage converged on Chorkor and later moved to Mamprobi where he picked up his nomination forms to contest the NDC primary.

Later during the carnival, Dr Okoe Vanderpuiye was introduced to some NDC stalwarts in the constituency. Prayers were also said for him by some elders of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

In a brief speech, he thanked the people for their massive support.

He said that he would launch his campaign after he had presented his nomination forms.

As part of key steps to win the seat, he disclosed that he would embark on a house to house campaign pretty soon.

The Secretary of the Ablekuma South Constituency of the NDC, Mr Ephraim Nii Tan Sackey, who presented the forms to Dr Vanderpuiye, advised all aspirants to follow the rules and regulations governing the conduct of the primary.

The constituency has 150 polling stations and the forms must be approved by all of them, Mr Sackey added.
