Ayisi Boateng appeals to NPP delegates to stay focused

A founder member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),  Mr George Ayisi-Boateng, has appealed to the delegates of the party who will be voting at the next congress in April 12, to ensure that they elect people who can help the NPP win the election and not people who just want power.

He has, therefore, challenged all the 5600 delegates who will be voting to ensure that they do not allow themselves to be influenced in any form to elect the wrong person.

“Stay focussed and be firm in the interest of the party and elect national leaders who can help beat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 general election”.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic in an exclusive interview, Mr Ayisi-Boateng said the NPP could not afford to lose the next election in 2016 so he urged all functionaries to contribute their quota towards winning the next election.

The national council of the party, on Tuesday, fixed April 12, as the day for the party’s next general delegates conference.

The National Executive Committee had earlier fixed March 1, as the day for their national delegates congress and also decided that due to lack of funds, the elections were to be held in the various regions.

But the national council of the party at its meeting overturned the earlier decision and chose Tamale as the venue for the election for the new executive.

Mr Ayisi-Boateng urged members of the party to desist from any form of media war and rather use dialogue as well as the various structures in the party to resolve any differences.

That,  he said, would prevent them from exposing wrongdoings or giving their political opponents strong weapons which they would use in fighting them during  the election campaign as the next election was drawing closer.

On the recent regional election in the Ashanti Region, he commended members of the party for a successful election and congratulated the newly elected executive,  but urged them to work extra hard and live to expectation to win more votes for the party.

He urged them to exhibit their capabilities when it mattered most and especially when election campaign began,  as well as support the party in diverse ways at ordinary times.

The founder member challenged all supporters and functionaries of the party to be strong and support the party to intensify its public education to win more votes for the party in the next general election.

He said it was the NPP that had the key to improve the nation’s economy and better the lives of the people so he urged all Ghanaians to back the party as it prepared to come back to power to save the nation from its current state.
