Bosomtwe Assembly endorses nominee for DCE
The Bosomtwe District Assembly at its sitting last Tuesday overwhelmingly endorsed the President’s nominee for the post of District Chief Executive, Madam Veronica Antwi-Adjei.

In an election supervised by the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Yaw Adusei and the Bosomtwe District Officer of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Ernestina Owusu-Banahene, out of the 48 assembly members who were present at the meeting, 47 voted for the nominee, representing 97.9 per cent, while one person voted against her.
This makes her the first ever female to be appointed for the post of district chief executive.
Until her nomination, Madam Antwi-Adjei, known in political circles as “Mama Ajasco,” was the Bosomtwe District Director for the Non-Formal Education Division of the Ministry of Education (NFED).
She holds a Diploma of Education from the University of Education, Winneba and has a barrage of experience in school administration and has worked extensively as a head teacher since she completed college in 1975.
As an old cadre,she was once the 31st December Women’s Movement (DWM) District Organiser for the Bosomtwe District before the party went into opposition in the year 2000.
The 31st DWM, in collaboration with the International Tropical Timber Organisation, on many occasions sponsored her to travel to some African countries such as Kenya, Ethiopia, Senegal where she learnt more about tree plantation projects.
Addressing the members after her election, Madam Antwi-Adjei, who was also an assembly member,thanked the assembly members for the trust reposed in her and pledged to work very hard to bring the needed development and improvement into the lives of the people in the district.

She pledged to operate an open door policy in her administration and called on the assembly members to support her in her bid to enhance accelerated socio-economic development in the district.
The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Lawyer Joseph Asuming, who chaired the function, commended the assembly members for voting for the President’s nominee.
He urged her to work towards bringing unity among members of the assembly by opening her doors to all irrespective of their religion, political affiliation and ethnic background.
