According to them, all appeals to successive governments (from PNDC, NDC-1, NPP and NDC-2) to fix the poor road network and a water project had yielded no positive results adding that they did not want the road issue to become a political issue again in December, 2016, and called for immediate action to fix the road.

“We are no longer enthused about the 2016 political promises being made”, they stated.

The paramount chief of Kpalime traditional area, Togbe Adza Wiah Kwesi  II, expressed these sentiments when he delivered an address at the 2013 “Kpalikpakpa” festival of the people of which chiefs from eight towns, Kpale, Wegbe, Todome, Hiama, Tsatee, Kaira, Toh and Duga at a durbar last weekend.

He also said a water project established in the area was found to be faulty because water did not flow as expected; pipe bursts was a common occurrence, no reservoirs were installed in beneficiary communities and water had not flowed through public standpipes since the project was inaugurated.

“We would appreciate it if politics, unnecessary insults and denigration were taken out of this matter. We are feeling the negative impact of the water situation that we find ourselves in. We humbly request  an independent enquiry into the background and execution of this water project and the necessary remedial measures put in place to rectify any anomaly found”, Togbe Wiah said.

He further deplored the several uncompleted school projects dotted in the traditional area and called for government intervention to have them completed to improve on access and quality education within the area.

Togbe Adza Wiah cautioned chiefs and community leaders to desist from signing dubious documents under the influence of monetary considerations and also acts of corruption, adding that, they must also be mindful not to get involved in active partisan politics in order not to become prey to politicians.

He also reminded chiefs that they were prohibited by law from settling any case involving rape, incest and defilement because the cases were criminal and must be referred to the police for settlement whenever they occurred.

In an address, the South Dayi District Chief Executive, Mr Kafui Semenu Bekui,  said he acknowledged the sentiments of the people and that no government agency or department favoured a project which was duly awarded only to be abandoned.

According to him, majority of projects were stalled because the GETFund had not released funds for the projects and assured that he was in constant touch with the GETFund secretariat to seek for the release of the funds.

He urged them to embrace property rate and comply with it to ensure that the rightful owners of property were identified  to facilitate its payment and also the development of the district.
