Don't be partisan in deliberations — Musah Superior
The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Tamale, Mr Iddrisu Musah Superior, has urged assembly members to continue to remain neutral in their deliberations during assembly meetings since their role as development agents is apolitical.
He also commended assembly members for their efforts in pushing the development agenda of their respective electoral areas forward, saying the progress made cuts across political regimes and boundaries.

Internally generated fund
Touching on the Internally Generated Fund (IGF) of the assembly, Mr Musah said as of July 31, 2017, the assembly had mobilised a total revenue of GH¢879, 458.59, representing 42.29 per cent of its annual revenue projection of GH¢2,079,712.00.
He stated that the percentage of the targeted revenue for the year so far was a clear manifestation of how poorly the assembly was doing in its revenue mobilisation drive, adding that there was, therefore, the need for urgent measures to be taken to overturn this damning performance.
In view of that, he stated that the management of TaMA had initiated a process to engage a consulting firm on revenue mobilisation to partner with the assembly in rolling out an automated system of revenue collection in the metropolis in order to eliminate or minimise revenue leakages in the system and to enhance the fortunes of the assembly.
Mr Musah stated that so far, no agreement had been signed with the consultant but preliminary assessment and evaluation of the revenue items to be considered under the partnership were ongoing and very soon, the consultant would go to the field to first establish the boundary demarcation between Tamale and the Sagnarigu District so as to appreciate the magnitude of work involved for an agreement to be reached.

Common Fund
The MCE disclosed that the assembly had been allocated an amount of GH¢3,989,541.87 as its share of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) for the year 2017, but noted that the amount was only a projection to guide the assembly in its planning and budgeting as part of the requirements for disbursement of this year’s DACF.

Metro-wide clean-up exercise
Mr Musah said the assembly, in collaboration with Zoomlion, was planning to undertake metro-wide clean-up exercises with special attention on the central business district (CBD) area of the metropolis on September 9, 2017, and therefore appealed to assembly members to lead the exercise in their respective electoral areas.
