EC to engage professionals to collate election results

The chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs Charlotte Osei has said that a proposal to engage the assistance of professionals, mainly accountants in the collation of election results from polling stations was being considered.

According to her, the EC was talking to the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA) to see how best the EC could use the expertise of the accountants at the collation centers.

The move forms part of the EC's attempt at getting recognizable professional institutions to help in the management of the November polls.

Already, the Ghana Bar Association has offered to play a role in protecting the credibility of the polls.
