Election 2024: US lauds Ghana’s commitment to peaceful elections
The United States has congratulated Ghana for holding peaceful and successful elections, highlighting the country’s unwavering commitment to democratic values, peaceful power transfer and electoral integrity.
In a post on X on Sunday December 8, the United States hailed Ghanaians for a smooth election process that reflected the will of the people.

"We commend all of the candidates who stood for the election and their commitment to ensuring it was peaceful," it added.
It further praised Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for his dignified concession speech, which emphasised the importance of democracy and the peaceful transfer of power.
The U.S. Embassy also stressed on the significance of Ghana's democratic practices, underscoring that such a process is vital for the nation’s stability and prosperity.
"We stand with the people of Ghana and their belief in the power of democracy," it added, referring to the strong partnership between the two nations.
Ghana has long been recognised as one of Africa's most stable democracies, and the latest elections are seen as a reaffirmation of this reputation.
In his concession speech, Vice President Bawumia expressed his commitment to upholding democratic values, assuring Ghanaians that the transition of power would be peaceful, fair and transparent.

As the country looks ahead to the next phase of its political journey, the United States reiterated its support for Ghana’s democratic development, reinforcing the shared belief that “#DemocracyDelivers.”
