Ghana to strengthen energy cooperation with China — Prof. Opoku-Agyemang

The Vice-President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has reiterated Ghana's commitment to strengthening energy cooperation with China, following a meeting with a delegation from the Shenzhen Energy Group.

The meeting, which took place on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, focused on expanding the reach of Sunon Asogli Power in Ghana's energy sector.

"I placed emphasis on supporting women engineers in the energy sector," she said, adding that "by the end of the meeting, the delegation from China had agreed with my suggestion to select some women engineers for training in their facilities in China”.

The Vice-President expressed gratitude for China's unwavering support, particularly in addressing energy supply challenges. 

Appreciation

"I want to express my appreciation for the support that China has given to us, especially in the area of energy," she said.

Vice-President Opoku-Agyemang assured the delegation of the government's commitment to supporting future project expansions to meet Ghana's growing energy demands.

The meeting marks a significant step towards deepening Ghana-China energy cooperation, with a focus on expanding Sunon Asogli Power's reach in the energy sector.

The Shenzhen Energy Group was led by the Executive President, Ouyang Huiyu, and the management team of the Sunon Asogli Power (Ghana) Limited.
