He said the decision by Dr Bawumia to pick Dr Prempeh, a proud son of Asanteman, as his running mate, had brought honour to the chiefs and the entire people of Asanteman.

“Your elevation to the running mate position in your political party has brought honour to Asanteman,” he emphasised.

Achiever

Barima Kodua, who was speaking during a courtesy call on him by the NPP running mate, said Dr Prempeh merited that prestigious position because he was an achiever.

He said Dr Prempeh who is also known as NAPO should even bring more honour to Asanteman when he becomes the vice-president of the country.

He said he would continue to pray for him (Dr Prempeh) to realise his ambition.

Public life

He observed that Dr Prempeh had performed exceptionally well in his public life, especially during the last eight years that the NPP had been in government.

In that regard, Barima Kodua said he could vouch for the competence, integrity and ability of Dr Prempeh.

Citing an example to buttress his point, the Kumawumanhene said, Dr Prempeh lived up to expectation as he worked assiduously to implement the Free Senior High School (SHS) social intervention policy, which he said had helped to reduce dropouts in schools.

“Your free SHS programme has helped parents, guardians and even chiefs. These days, people don’t come to us for school fees, and it is all because of your splendid works,” he added.

Barima Tweneboah Kodua further recounted how the unique expertise and knowledge of Dr Prempeh came to bear when he was appointed as the Energy Minister.

He said: “Your good works in the Energy Ministry are also visible for all to see.”

Barima Kodua said he was impressed with the humility with which Dr Prempeh was serving and supporting the NPP Presidential candidate, Dr Bawumia, to campaign for votes.

He said the NPP administration had been good to Kumawu in terms of the sharing of the national cake and mentioned that his area had witnessed massive developmental projects including the “Sekyere Kumawu District Hospital which he described as a "stand out."
