Next NDC govt will complete Tamne Dam — Mahama
Former President John Dramani Mahama has promised that the next National Democratic Congress (NDC) government will complete the Tamne Dam project.

The project, which was initiated during his previous term, aims to provide irrigation for farmers in the eastern part of the Upper East Region and promote all-year-round farming.
The construction of the dam was expected to create about 5,400 direct and indirect jobs, boosting farming activities in the Bawku Municipality and the Garu-Tempane, Binduri, and Pusiga districts.

The Former president’s #Mahama4Change2024 campaign trail in the Upper East Region continued on the second day (Sunday, August 4) with a packed schedule of engagements.
The day began with a courtesy call on the Kaadi chief in Binduri, where Mr Mahama paid his respects and sought the chief's blessings. Mr Mahama, in an address, set the record straight on his position regarding the creation of a new region from the six constituencies in the eastern part of the Upper East Region.
He explained that his previous comments were misinterpreted and misrepresented by some individuals. Mr Mahama stated that during his visit to the Bawku Naaba's Palace, he discussed the criteria for creating a new region, including land size, economic viability, population and the submission of a petition followed by a commission of inquiry.
However, he claimed that a fake news story distorted his words, attempting to create a rift between him and the Mamprugu state. "I never spoke about the Mamprugu state," Mahama emphasised. "I was simply comparing land size, population and economic viability with other recently created regions."
Mahama then turned his attention to President Akufo-Addo, accusing him of supervising the spread of misinformation from the seat of government. "The President condemns misinformation and uses the Agyapa deal as an example, but his own Flagstaff House is the headquarters of misinformation.

His own office is where they spread false information, so he should clean his house first," Mr Mahama said. Next, Mr Mahama addressed a community engagement at Binduri Senior High School, where he outlined his vision for the region's development.
In Zebilla, Mr Mahama interacted with religious and traditional leaders at Amazon Hotel, emphasising the importance of collaboration between government and community leaders for the development of the country.
The Member of Parliament for Zebilla, Cletus Apul Avoka, introduced the party’s candidate for the December election, Ebenezer Alumire Ndebilla, to the electorate and promised his support for him to retain the seat for the NDC.
At the Benaba Market Square also in the Zebilla constituency, Mr Mahama engaged with traders, listening to their concerns and promising to support small businesses.
Pledge to empower women
Addressing a gathering of hundreds of market women, Mr Mahama reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to establish a development bank specifically designed to support women-led businesses.
The promise resonated deeply with the audience, who enthusiastically received the news with cheers and applause. Mr Mahama said by prioritising women's economic empowerment, the country could unlock the full potential of Ghana's female entrepreneurs and stimulate sustainable growth.
