NPP candidate promises to change Yilo Krobo politics
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for Yilo Krobo Constituency in the Eastern Region, Dr Richard Twum Barimah, has promised to change the political game in the Yilo Krobo Constituency by winning the seat in this year’s election without any controversy.
He said he was aware that the seat had been for the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for all these years, but was sure to snatch it following the numerous development projects he had embarked on for some few years now.

“Since 1992, our main opposition party, the NDC, has been representing the Yilo Krobo Constituency, yet the constituents have not seen any concrete development projects that we can boast of. Up to date, we have had Godwin John Quarshie, Daniel Tekpertey, Raymond Twaiah, Magnus Kofi Amoatey and currently Albert Tetteh Nyakotey.
“A Member of Parliament is to represent his or her constituency, talk on their behalf and lobby for projects for the constituency, aside from other parliamentary duties he or she might be assigned,” he said.
“We the members of the constituency can conveniently say that all the five MPs who represented us have not satisfied us. I will take over God-willing come December 7 and change the political game to their admiration,” Dr Twum assured.
Dr Twum was speaking to the Daily Graphic in an exclusive interview at Somanya as part of his campaign for this year’s election.
Development projects
Dr Twum said he and his campaign team had toured all the communities in the Yilo Krobo Constituency to sell his message to them, mainly his development projects scattered all over the constituency, which they had all attested to.
He said he had foresight of what the Yilo Krobo Constituency should be some years back and started his own development agenda for the area as far back as President Atta Mills’ era.

He enumerated many development projects, including the drilling of boreholes for communities without potable water, registration of over 9,000 people without health insurance cards, sponsoring of students to senior high schools before the government brought the free senior high school programme and other sponsorship packages for tertiary students throughout the constituency.
“Currently, with my lobbying, there is an astroturf playing field at Nkrunkan, which is boosting the morale of the youth as far as football and other games are concerned”.
He said any town, community and country with a low literacy rate stood the chance of having low levels of development, and to avoid that situation in Yilo Krobo, he started education-related projects in the schools across the length and breadth of the constituency, to promote higher literacy in terms of education.
He pleaded with the people to give him a chance following his sterling performance in terms of the development projects he had completed.
