We’ll construct harbour, provide premix dispenser - Bawumia to Sege, Ada residents

The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has assured the chiefs and people of Sege in the Greater Accra Region of the establishment of an automated dispensing machine for premix and a mini harbour.

He also promised to construct a sea defence wall to secure the Ada and Sege communities.

Dr Bawumia, who was speaking during a stakeholder engagement in the Ada and Sege constituencies in the Ada East and West Districts respectively, also pledged to improve on the road network in the area when he becomes President.

He said he would work very hard to deliver when given the nod to be President because, after four years, he has to come back to account to them.

Support

Dr Bawumia also appealed to the chiefs and people of the respective communities to vote for the NPP Parliamentary candidates for Ada, Dornukie Naa Norteye, and Sege, Dodzie Numekevor, respectively, as Members of Parliament (MPs).

“I want us to make history together. Ada has never voted for the NPP in 32 years. It is possible; vote for us,” he said.

Recounting his life as a child growing up, Dr Bawumia said what drove him as a public servant was his care and concern for the poor and the vulnerable in society. He said that was where his heart was.

“If you look at everything I have done before and since I have been in politics, it is to lift up the vulnerable in our society. As part of the things I do outside my work, I am the patron of the Lepers Aid.

“I also have a particular concern for persons with disabilities, to see how we can empower and lift them up. Also, I work closely with street children,” he indicated.

He said he was concerned about the sick and how to help them, hence championing sickle cell and people with kidney problems to get free dialysis through the NHIS.

“So my heart and my focus in what I do is to help the poor and those with no voice in our society. I get along with everybody,” he added.

Explaining further, the NPP flag bearer said he grew up with Christian siblings so “I have good relations across the religious divide.”

He admitted that “we have not done everything but we have done more than any other government in the Fourth Republic.”

Meet and Greet

On his way to the Sege Constituency after the stakeholder engagement at the Ada Technical Institute, Dr Bawumia made a whistle stop at the Kasseh lorry station to interact with some traders.

He also mounted a vehicle and shared his “bold solutions” to the gathering.

At the Ada Secondary Technical School, Dr Bawumia was mobbed by students and teachers, who ambushed "the possibilities” bus on its way to the Sege Constituency.

He interacted with the students briefly and met with other stakeholders, including beauticians, Muslim leaders, clergy and traditional rulers at Sege.

Dr Bawumia ended the day with similar engagements and a mini-rally (community connect) at Old Ningo and Prampram in the Ningo–Prampram Constituency.
