The commission said it was mindful that the voters register was the bedrock of credible, fair and transparent elections and assured all stakeholders of its dedication to this process.

NDC’s petition

This is in response to the petition submitted by the NDC to the EC following their nationwide demonstration last Tuesday, September 17, 2024 to demand for a forensic audit of the register.

A statement issued by the EC and signed by the Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations, Samuel Tettey, said: "The Commission will review the petition and provide its response in the coming days."

The EC also reassured the public that the process of producing the final register was still in its early stages.

It further gave an assurance that the commission's doors remained open for engagement with the NDC and other stakeholders to address their concerns.

Background

The NDC’s protest follows concerns raised by the party about errors and discrepancies in the voters' register for the 2024 general election and demanded for a forensic audit.

The EC has maintained that the ongoing finalisation of the register must be completed before any audit can take place.
