Youth leaders commend President Mahama for Opare-Addo’s nomination

The Coalition of National Youth Organisers has expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for appointing the National Youth Organiser of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare-Addo, as the Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment.

They also commended President Mahama for rebranding the Youth Ministry to reflect the current expectations of the youth, by converting Youth and Sports to Youth Development and Empowerment.

“The rebranded Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment could never have got a better person to handle it than George Opare-Addo, who is not only a youth but understands the needs, hopes and aspirations of the youth,” it said.

A statement signed by the leadership of the coalition also described Mr Opare-Addo as "affable, accommodative, intelligent and youthfully competent".

The leadership of the coalition comprise Mark Arkoh Ewusi, President and National Youth Organiser of the People’s National Convention (PNC); Faisal Sadat, Vice-President and National Youth Organiser of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and Osei Kofi Acquah, General Secretary and former National Youth Organiser of the Convention People’s Party (CPP).

The rest are King Hassan, Director of Operations and National Youth Organiser of All People’s Congress (APC) and Jude Braimah, Director of Research and National Youth Organiser of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP).

"We believe that with George Opare-Addo in charge of this ministry, the John Mahama 24-Hour Economy flagship policy will not only be a success but will stand the test of time,” the coalition said.
