Commending her determination to improve the tourism sector, a number of political groups have in a statement mentioned her strenuous attempts to encourage the youth and schoolchildren to develop interest in domestic tourism.

The groups also said she was giving practical meaning to the integration of tourism, culture and creative arts for the benefit of the country.

The groups are the Kumasi Polytechnic chapter of the Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Friends of Democrats and Top Popular Youth.

A statement signed by Mr Alfred A. Nuseli, the General Secretary of TEIN, in Kumasi on behalf of the groups, also commended the tourism minister for her effort at transforming the tourism, culture and arts industry to be a good source of revenue mobilisation for the nation.

It said the declaration of 2014 as a year of tourism by the minister had brought some progress into the sector, making many people develop interest in domestic tourism in the country.

One other initiative worth noting is the bridging of the three sectors of tourism, culture and creative arts to work as a unit, as each supports the other to make gains for their operations, the statement added.

They also commended the minister for ensuring that the youth in the country were well motivated and mentored to take their destiny into their own hands.

The statement called on the minister to take a look at the way the nation’s currency was being handled by  the general public, as that caused the government extra cost to print new cedi notes, aside the health threat that it posed to the people.

It also commended the President, Mr John Dramani Mahama, for the way he had so far managed the nation, although he met a challenging or almost collapsed economy.
