I'm encouraged by Ghana’s vibrant, diverse media - Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that he is encouraged by the continuing vibrancy and diversity of the Ghanaian media.
He explained that these were the very foundation of the nation’s growing democracy and open society and added that “I would hesitate to accept any situation that looks for uniformity in the media”.
President Akufo-Addo stated this when the leadership of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) led by its President, Mr Roland Affail Monney and some winners of Journalist of the Year award paid a courtesy call on at the Jubilee House on Monday (June 28, 2021).

The leadership of the GJA was at the Jubilee House to thank President Akufo-Addo for honouring the invitation to open the international conference of the Federation of African journalists held in Accra recently and make some requests for government assistance in the Ghanaian media.
Mr Monney’s entourage included the GJA Vice President, Linda Asante Adjei; the Treasurer, Mrs Audrey Dekalu; 2018 Journalist of the Year, Ms Doreen Hammond who is also the Editor of the Mirror and Kwame Sefa Kayi, 2016 Journalist of the Year.
Uniformity
President Akufo-Addo said people have tried to have a uniformity of the operations and output of the media all over the world but had not worked because people think differently and the media reflected the way the people think.
Credit
He said it was to the credit of Ghana that this was recognised and also build the country on these principles and expressed delight at witnessing these tendencies and traditions of free, vigorous and diversified media that had become stronger in the country.
He urged those in public space to take it like that and shared his personal experience where he noted that a whole section of the media was dedicated
