Ken Agyapong's camp demands sanctions for NPP Chairmen over "gross anti-party conduct"

The campaign team for Assin Central MP and flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has issued a demand for the immediate sanctioning of two New Patriotic Party (NPP) regional chairmen, accusing them of "gross misconduct" that threatens the party's unity.

The demand, articulated in a press statement signed by campaign spokesperson Kwasi Kwarteng, Esq., follows viral social media videos featuring the party's Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), and Bono Regional Chairman, Mr. Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC).

The statement alleges the chairmen were "heard alleging manipulation of the NPP’s electoral register and process to favour a particular candidate ahead of the January 2026 Presidential Primaries." It describes these comments as "a grave violation of the Party’s constitution" that "directly threaten the credibility and unity of the upcoming presidential primaries."

The statement argues that a mere disavowal from the party's national leadership is insufficient. "For this reason, it is wholly inadequate for the party leadership to simply dissociate itself from their reckless utterances. It has to be both condemned and sanctioned," the release asserts.

It highlighted the seniority of the two chairmen, noting they are "members of both the National Executive Committee and the National Council... two of the highest decision making organs of the Party."

The Agyapong camp therefore "recommend[s] that the NEC and the National Council of the NPP immediately summon the two Regional Chairman before the appropriate disciplinary bodies and processes."

The statement suggested that a "failure to act swiftly and decisively will only reinforce the widespread perceptions of bias and lend credibility to the dangerous narrative that there is indeed a calculated orchestration to skew the process in favour of a particular candidate."

In a closing assurance to supporters, the statement said: "Team Ken remains resolute in its commitment to a transparent, free, and fair electoral process," adding that it has "put in place a robust anti-rigging architecture to safeguard the sanctity and integrity of the upcoming primaries."
