A New Patriotic Party (NPP) member, Baah Acheamfour, believed to be a loyal supporter of deposed National Chairman of the party, Paul Afoko, was contributing to one of the hottest political programmes in Kumasi dubbed: ‘Eboborba’, hosted by Kwaku Kyeremanteng Nkansah when the thugs he alleged were hired by the regional communications director of the party, Kwasi Kyei entered the studios to pummel him.

The programme was disrupted and listeners could hear anguished shouts of ‘agyeii, agyeii’ in the background.

The Station Manager, Peter Nana Akwasi Sarpong Jnr who said the incident could not have been accidental, explained that Kwasi Kyei had arrived at the station earlier on to question who allowed Baah Acheamfour to represent the party on the programme.

He was alleged to have forcibly entered the studios where a discussion on President John Dramani Mahama’s job creation policy was being discussed. Minutes later, five heavily built men arrived at the station on motorbikes, stormed the studios, disrupted the programme and physically assaulted everybody.

The host, Nkansah, who said he was hit on the chest, managed to escape while Baah Acheamfour became the target of the hefty blows from the machomen.

Personnel from the Manhyia Divisional Police arrived at the scene moments later to provide protection to the station staff but the thugs had then fled.

Baah Acheamfour was given a medical form to visit the hospital before writing his report.

“Such attitude of Nana Akufo-Addo boys attacking people who express dissenting opinion will affect the chances of the party and must be watched,” Baah Acheamfour, sporting a swollen eye told the Daily Graphic.
